I'll come find you at the park
be right there

[He finds her quickly, minotaur senses making it easy to find his way through the park. All the way over, he's thought about how to approach this, wondering if he should just get right to the point or maybe just talk to her about something else for a little bit to see how she's feeling. He never came up with a concrete plan, though, and now that he's here, he's run out of time to decide.]

Hey.

[That's a good start. Dipper glances around for a good spot to do this, and finds an oak tree nearby. Being young, its shade is sparse, but it's as good a place as any. He points towards it.]

Um...Do you want to sit over there?

[He can tell she's trying too hard, just like back when he took a chunk out of her shoulder. She always tries so hard to be cheerful. Has she always done this, even back in Gravity Falls?

He leads the way to the tree and sits in the grass, a little uncomfortable given the knobbly roots poking their way up from the ground here and there. Plus his hooves make for really awkward sitting; their size and shape makes it hard to position them. Mabel's probably right at home though, he reasons.

It hurts sometimes to think how different they are now.

Once they're situated, he decides he's just gonna get straight down to it. Trying to get an idea of how Mabel's doing isn't going to work if she's just pretending to be fine all the time.]

So...do you realize what happened to us? How we got a whole bunch of people's memories?
pinetree: (confused)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-06-30 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well...yeah.

[But he can't be mad at her for it. They all wanted to believe the ritual would work, and it had worked for her and that was enough proof for Dipper to at least show up the next night. It wasn't strictly her fault.]

But that's not important. Listen, I got a lot of weird memories from that, but I saw something else -- there was a secret room under the Shack, and Stan had the first journal, and gravity kept messing up so we'd all go floating. And I saw myself. I think I was seeing all of it from your perspective. I think it was your memory.

What was all of that, Mabel?
pinetree: (for having better icons than me)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-06-30 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course.

[He had to drag her back to the house by himself, after all. Sixty pounds of dead plant weight.]
pinetree: (I couldn't possibly just)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-06-30 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So, all of that... You dreamed it?

[And what's more, she dreamed it after they'd already talked about time shenanigans. So that explains why she didn't tell him back then. But...]

Why didn't you say anything?
pinetree: (wait never mind)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-01 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
[That's kind of a flimsy excuse, and it irritates him (much like a lot of stuff lately, he's noticed). He tries not to let it creep into his voice when he replies.]

Like this: "Hey, I had a weird dream that our grunkle was building a portal that could destroy the entire world. Crazy, right?"
pinetree: (SHUT UP NO ONE ASKED YOU)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-01 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Okay, that's a good point. He and Stan had been kind of on edge for a while there, so he can't fault her for that. But Mabel mentioning him brings up another thought.]

...Does he know about this?
pinetree: (every)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-01 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
What did he say?

[There's urgency to it. If Stan said anything to validate what Mabel saw, if all of it was true...]
pinetree: (why do you keep throwing cameras)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-01 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
[That's...only slightly helpful. He frowns, wondering if he should confront Stan himself. He's now armed with the same information as Mabel, he could easily push where she hadn't.]

Like what? Seriously, Mabel, just...tell me absolutely everything, okay? This is important.

[He doesn't want to scare Mabel off of telling him more, but it's getting harder to keep the impatience out of his voice.]
pinetree: (confused)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-01 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[That derails his impatience for the time being, as he takes a moment to recall all the weird memories he got from other people and sorts them.]

I think I got the whole thing. The FBI showed up and took Stan away in the morning, right? And we didn't get to that machine until it was almost dark. I got everything in-between.

[And most importantly, he got Mabel's decision, being put on the spot to choose whether to shut down the portal. More than anything, he wants to ask what she chose, but he's got to sort this out first.]
pinetree: (SHUT UP NO ONE ASKED YOU)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-22 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
[That doesn't sound terribly important or relevant to him, because it doesn't confirm if Mabel's vision was true. It just confirms that her Stan hallucination was on-point. He can't keep the disappointment out of his voice when he just replies] Oh.

[And that's it. It very well still could be true, but short of demanding a clear answer from Stan, neither twin is gonna find out for sure. There's just one thing he's still curious about.]

That...vision, or memory, or whatever-- it cut off before you pushed the button. You were gonna push the button, right?
pinetree: (why do you keep throwing cameras)

[personal profile] pinetree 2015-07-27 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[He may not have experienced his own anger, but he definitely felt it watching the memory, and he can sympathize with...himself(????) on how insistent he was to shut down the portal. Every sign pointed to Extremely Bad Consequences. So the fact that she doesn't know what she would have done worries and kind of terrifies him.]

It's not about right and wrong! Think about it, Mabel -- if you'd let the portal activate, you could destroy the world. If you didn't let the portal activate, what's the worst that could happen? Stan gets disappointed? Is that really worth more than the entire planet?

[Maybe this doesn't matter considering they're nowhere near the portal physically (and in Dipper's case, chronologically), but it's suddenly very important to him that he gets this point across.]
